My Happy Places

I struggle with depression and anxiety and I have done for years. I have good periods and bad periods, and sometimes it can even fluctuate from day to day, but there are a few specific things that I feel have helped me get by, or even overcome the worst of it, when I’ve been stuck in a bad place.

While these things don’t cure me, or make me instantly happy, they do help make me feel more zen and comforted in those darker and lonelier moments.

Lush Products Review // Face Serum & Mask

I popped into Lush last month and got myself a couple of products I had never tried before, at the recommendation of one of the girls working there. It was a quiet day in the shop so she was very helpful, and tried the products out on my hand (which I love – it’s like a mini spa treatment that only lasts a few minutes, but I feel so relaxed afterwards), and talked me through all the benefits and how she personally uses them!

Vintage Clothing Haul

Last month I went to a Vintage Kilo Sale in Edinburgh, where you pick up as many items as you want and pay by the weight of them (in this case, per kilo) rather than for each individual item.

I went with my best friend Abbi (her blog is over here if you want to check her out) ((I don’t know why I’m shouting her out because she is SO more experienced and popular than me but she is AMAZING so I can’t not)) and maybe went a bit crazy with the spending…

However, it was totally worth it as I picked up some really cute pieces – a few of which I’ve worn multiple times, already – so I thought I’d share them with you guys!

Harry Potter-Inspired Eyeshadow Palette // Review

I know I’m a bit late to the Wizardry and Witchcraft Palette train, but I finally got my hands on this beauty and (as an embarrassingly huge Harry Potter fan) I’m so excited!

For those who might not know, this palette is by Storybook Cosmetics, a wonderful company that makes beautiful, cruelty-free fiction-inspired make up and tools – you can get matching wand shaped make up brushes SWEET LORD.

This particular eyeshadow palette, as you can probably tell from the title, is inspired by Harry Potter! The colours are magical, as are the names (Bewitched, Merlin, Potions, etc). I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited to get my hands on a make up product before.

Travel Bucket List

I’ve been very lucky to have parents that took me away on holiday every summer to loads of different places. However I still wouldn’t say I’m “well-travelled”, but I’d like to be. Most of those holidays were your classic sitting by the pool, being shoved off to Kids Club in the hope that mum and dad would get some relaxation time for at least a few hours (they didn’t; sorry mum, dad, I was never good at separation). A few of them, as I grew older, were more exciting. There was more exploring involved, and we even started going on snow sports holidays which was a nice change of pace.

Last summer I (last minute) went inter-railing through Europe with my friend from Uni. If anyone were to ask me what my greatest moment/achievement/experience of my life was, it would beย that. I found my taste for travelling when I was there, and it really was a self-finding experience but on a more chilled level than you expect. It wasn’t as if I found a whole new me, but I definitely learned a lot and improved on myself because of it.

After that experience, I now want to visit so many more countries and places. So I made my travel bucket list! It will be forever growing no doubt, this is just the start of my journey, but I’d love to share a few of the places off my list that I hope to visit soon.
